Poor sweet Kennedy. Sometimes I think she just can't win. We had gotten her weight back (all 13lb 9 oz of it) up to where it was when she was 4 months old only for her to lose it again. She is now 8 months and weighs in at a whopping 12 lbs 8 oz. She has had this lingering cough for the past few months and battled 3 ear infections. I feel so bad for the poor girl. Her pediatrician sent us for chest x-rays and blood work to see if there was anything funky going on. Luckily her chest looks clear and the blood work was good except for an elevated white blood cell count indicating she is fighting an infection of some sort. We are now going to see a gastroenterologist to find out why Miss Kenna can't keep the weight on. It would be one thing if she stayed at a steady weight but she gains then loses *and* she doesn't seem to be growing lengthwise either. Her doc seems to think that she is either not getting enough calories/fats or that her body can't seem to hold on to the calories/fats. We shall see. He was pretty spot on when he referred us to the cardiologist for her heart defect so I am pretty confident that if he suspects that something is amiss, he is right. Speaking of cardiologists, we should be having our year appointment around May or June to see if/what kind of surgery baby cakes may need. Any prayers would be greatly appreciated!
Miss Ainsley is on Spring Break this week and *loving* it! She asks everyday, "Are we going to do something fun today?" Yesterday she and Peyton did an awesome job cleaning their rooms and the play room. Too bad it took so long- I had planned on taking them to the park to have a picnic and play but they "fiddlefarted around" (something my mom used to say to me frequently) and it got too late. Today we went to the mall, played and got Subway. Those two gals can make friends anywhere. They were playing with a little girl around Ainsley's age and when we left they all had to hug good-bye. We ran into them later and it was like they were long lost friends. The mom, who was surprised when they randomly hugged again, asked if they knew each other. The mom had 3 little ones- the girl that's Ainsley's age, a boy about Peyt's age and another girl about Kenna's age. The boy totally reminded me of my nephew Ryan when he was little. I would guess the little guy had autism and/or maybe cerebral palsy. He kept coming over to Kenna and looking at her. A lady with them (I think she does what I used to do) kept telling him that it wasn't his baby sister. Too cute.
Anyhow- tomorrow we are going to try the zoo. I figured it would be great to get the girlie-q's outside while it's still nice. I also have a few St.Patty's day tricks up my sleeves for them. I think tomorrow is going to be a great day!
